Anisa Mohammed (9.4-1-27-4) and Hayley Matthews (8-3-17-2, 49 runs) helped West Indies beat Pakistan by eight wickets in the second Women’s ODI at the Coolidge Cricket Ground, Antigua. West Indies have taken a 2-0 lead in the five-match series with the win.
Earlier, Pakistan lost both Ayesha Zafar (4) and Javeria Khan (5) within five overs after opting to bat. Muneeba Ali (37) and Omaima Sohail (19) then added 47 before Karishma Ramharack (2-27) trapped Sohail leg before. Nida Dar (20) and Aliya Riaz (26) also got starts but both failed to convert them into a big score.
Pakistan were 96/4 at one stage. However, they lost their last six batters for just 24 runs. They were bowled out for 120 in 42.4 overs. Anisa did the most damage in this period, picking up four of their last six wickets.
Shamilia Connell (1-15) and Shakera Selman (1-16) claimed a wicket each, while Stafanie Taylor remained wicketless after bowling six overs.
Coming to a puny chase, West Indies never seemed in trouble against Pakistani bowlers. Mathews (49 in 58 balls) played aggressively in the 65-run opening stand with Kyshona Knight (37*) before being run out by Dana Baig. Kycia Knight (12), too, departed in a similar fashion, by Fatima Sana.
Deandra Dottin did not take time to get settled. She hit three fours in her unbeaten 13-ball 15 to guide West Indies past the finishing line with 18.5 overs to spare. Despite getting no success, Dar was the standout bowler for Pakistan, with figures of 10-4-13-0.
