A 122-run opening-wicket stand between Lizelle Lee (78*) and Laura Wolvaardt (53) led South Africa to an eight-wicket victory against West Indies in the third Women’s ODI in Coolidge. The win ensured South Africa clinch the five-match series. They are currently leading 3-0.

South Africa were chasing a paltry 158, and Lee and Wolvaardt continued their form to ease the pressure on others. Qiana Joseph dismissed Wolvaardt and Sune Luus in quick succession, but there were not enough runs for West Indies to defend. Lee and Dane van Niekerk (18* in 18 balls) did not take much time and finish things off in the 37th over.

But before that, South African bowlers, led by Shabnim Ismail, made the job easier for the batters. They got both Hayley Matthews and Chedean Nation inside the opening six overs after van Niekerk won the toss and asked West Indies to bat.

Rashada Williams (37) and Deandra Dottin (71) steadied the ship, adding 77 for the third wicket. But they were only West Indian batters who reached double digits. As a result, West Indies were bundled out for 157 in 48.4 overs.

For South Africa, Ismail did the most damage with 3-31, while Ayabonga Khaka and Luus picked up two wickets each.

Brief Scores: West Indies Women 157 in 48.4 overs (Deandra Dottin 71; Shabnim Ismail 3-31) lost to South Africa Women 158/2 in 36.4 overs (Lizelle Lee 78*; Qiana Joseph 2-24) by 8 wickets with 80 balls to spare. Player of the Match: Shabnim Ismail.
