The series has been a one-sided affair for South Africa since its opener. After taking an unassailable lead by winning the first three, they rested Lizelle Lee in the fourth, and brought in Tazmin Brits. With 187 runs, Lee still leads the run-scorers chart, and may return in the line-up this time.
In their last encounter, South Africa rode on Mignon du Preez’s 65 to post 185/6 after they were asked to bat. Dane van Niekerk (3-23) and Chloe Tryon (10-2-18-0) then spun a web around West Indian batters to restrict them to 150/9. Rashada Williams top-scored with 42, but took 90 balls to reach there.
In Stafanie Taylor’s absence, West Indies found themselves on the back foot in all four contests they have played so far. Hayley Matthews disappointed the most. Anisa Mohammed bowled tightly, but is yet to receive the support she has required from the other end.
