Royal Challengers Bangalore released 11 big players before this year’s IPL auction with the agenda of a fresh start in 2020 IPL. They have been in a revamp mode for some time and changes in the team management are proof of that.
Mike Hesson, the recently appointed Director of Cricket Operations of Rajasthan Royals, took to the Twitter to welcome all the players who were retained by the franchise. Former Australian batsman and cricket commentator Dean Jones questioned the decision of retaining Parthiv and replied to Hesson’s tweet saying, “You kept @parthiv9?”
This obviously did not go with Parthiv Patel. Parthiv had a good outing for RCB in last season’s campaign. He amassed 373 runs in 14 matches at a strike-rate of close 140. Parthiv quicky responded to Dean Jones and wrote, “So that u can be at peace during IPL in #selectdugout….” The chain of tweets saw another message of Dean Jones who wrote, “Correct !! I have a lot of power! Play well bud! Cos if you don’t… we will let you know on the #selectdugout”
These replies on social media obviously looked bitter and people start commenting on the same. For Parthiv Patel who was one of the rare bright sides of Bangalore last season the answer for Dean Jones would be to showcase his calibre on the field yet again. Parthiv had the second-best IPL season in 2019. No wonder Bangalore would depend on this experienced player and a few fireworks from him would be a nice way to send message to Dean Jones.
