Adam Zampa, the leg-spinner and expert with the white ball for Australia, has been selected to play in his first international match since being nominated to the team's 14-member roster for the One-day International series against New Zealand and Zimbabwe.
Zampa missed the most recent tour of Sri Lanka because he had just given birth to his first child, but the 30-year-old spinner has been selected for the matches in Queensland in August and September in a strong side.
Before playing a comparable number of games against Zimbabwe in Cairns, Australia will play three matches against trans-Tasman foes New Zealand in Townsville.
As he gets ready for the Australian cricket season, Test captain Pat Cummins will sit out the games, while left-handed batsman Travis Head will also be out since he is expecting his first child.
In addition to bringing back Zampa, Australia has also brought back spinner Ashton Agar and pacer Sean Abbott after they both sustained injuries during the tour of Sri Lanka.
The Australia team will once again be led by veteran hitter Aaron Finch as Mitchell Swepson, Josh Inglis, Jhye Richardson, and Matthew Kuhnemann have all been axed from the group that fell short in the ODI series against Sri Lanka by a score of 3-2.
The side will face a good challenge in the forthcoming games against New Zealand and Zimbabwe, according to national selector and former Australia batter George Bailey.
The opportunity to play some outstanding cricket in the run-up to the home summer will be provided by these series against Zimbabwe and New Zealand, the No. 1 and No. 2 rated ODI teams in the world, respectively, Bailey was quoted as saying by the ICC on Monday.
The team is thrilled to play three games in North Queensland to kick off a busy summer.
