Afghanistan and the Netherlands will be up against each other in the third and final ODI at West End Park International Stadium in Doha, on 25 January. The Dutch have conceded the series after losing the first two matches, but a win here will propel them to 12th place in Cricket World Cup Super League.
The Netherlands managed to restrict their opponents to modest totals in both ODIs, but their batters failed to step up as a unit. They lost the first ODI by 36 runs, and the second by 48 runs.
They are heavily reliant on opener Scott Edwards, who has already notched two fifties in the series. In the last game, he scored 86, but the rest of the batters combined for 88. Musa Ahmed needs to stick with Edwards and provide their team with a solid start.
Afghanistan, on the other hand, would aim for a 3-0 clean sweep. They are eighth in the Super League, just below India. Rahmanullah Gurbaz struck a hundred in the last ODI, but Usman Ghani has not managed anything substantial in two attempts. Hashmatullah Shahidi has had scores of 73 and 54, while Rahmat Shah has also impressed.
Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Rashid Khan will be threatening propositions for the opponents. They have shared 10 wickets so far, with Mujeeb picking four wickets in the second ODI.
