The newly-inducted Ahmedabad-based IPL franchise will be called Gujarat Titans. Acquired by CVC Capital for INR 5,625 crores last October, they are one of the two new teams to enter the Indian Premier League from 2022. Lucknow Super Giants are the other.
The Titans will be led by Hardik Pandya, on whom the Titans splurged INR 15 crores. Rashid Khan and Shubman Gill were two other players they picked in the draft.
'Debuting in the 15th season of the IPL, the Gujarat Titans will pay tribute to the state's rich cricketing legacy, which has seen it produce countless Indian international cricket legends over the years,' said the franchise in a statement on Wednesday.
The Titans have named Ashish Nehra as head coach, Gary Kirsten as mentor and batting coach, and Vikram Solanki has as director of cricket.
