Sourav Ganguly broke his silence on his impending resignation as president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India on Thursday, making the empathetic observation that "all have to face rejections" at some point.

"Nobody can serve as the administrator for the rest of their lives. We all experience rejection at some point or another. When you consider fast success, it never occurs. Keep in mind that one does not suddenly become Narendra Modi, Sachin Tendulkar, or an Ambani "He remarked this after attending a Bandhan Bank event in this location on Thursday.

Ganguly made a hint that people will soon be able to watch him in a different capacity without providing any further details.

"Everyone has to start again from scratch at some point. This could have been the end of my administrative career in cricket. I think people now perceive me in a different light. I shall start over there as well " he said.

In reference to his time leading the Indian cricket team, Ganguly remarked that there were more deserving players like Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid for the position of captain. "But I was given the position of captain so that I could act as a leader for the group and point them in the proper way. Dravid was once on the verge of being fired from the team. But I made the decision to defend him "said he.

He made no mention of the specific reasons why he ultimately had to resign from his position, though. Additionally, he flatly refused to consider the possibility that his disagreements with the other board members stemmed from his support for a number of businesses.
