Six teams will make it to the T20 World Cup next year where they will be pitted against Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in the first stage. The eight teams will then form two groups of four teams each.

The top two teams from each group at the end of the stage will then join teams like Australia, Pakistan, India, New Zealand, England, South Africa, West Indies and Afghanistan in the Super 12 stage.

Duration and Venue of the tournament

The tournament will start from October 18 and will go on till November 2 with matches being held in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The final match will be played at Dubai as well.

Format

All the teams in each group will play once against one another. The toppers of each group will seal two spots for themselves in the main tournament next year and also the semi-final berths in this tournament.

The second and third-placed teams from each group will take part in Play-Offs 1 and 2. The winners of each of those matches will join the group toppers in the semi-final along with sealing spots in the main tournament.

The losing teams from playoffs 1 and 2 will play the fourth ranked teams from each group in playoffs 3 and 4 and, thus, the winning teams of these matches become the fifth and sixth qualifying teams for the T20 World Cup.
