Alana King got a maiden Test call-up as Cricket Australia (CA) announced a 15-member squad for the Ashes series. King replaced the injured Georgia Wareham. Stella Campbell missed out as well, despite taking seven wickets for New South Wales last week.
'The loss of Georgia Wareham to injury has presented Alana King with a great opportunity to show what she can do at this level and having improved in all facets of her game over the last few seasons, she's well placed to play an important role in the series,' said national selector Shawn Flegler.
Jess Jonassen and Megan Schutt also returned to the side, but there was no place for Amanda-Jade Wellington. Sophie Molineux is still nursing her injury, and CA expects her to be fully fit for the World Cup, the squad for which will be announced later this month.
Australia Ashes squad: Meg Lanning (c), Rachael Haynes (vc), Darcie Brown, Nicola Carey, Hannah Darlington, Ashleigh Gardner, Alyssa Healy, Jess Jonassen, Alana King, Tahlia McGrath, Beth Mooney, Ellyse Perry, Megan Schutt, Annabel Sutherland, Tayla Vlaeminck.
