Australia captain Pat Cummins confirmed that their team will have just one change for the second Ashes Test match, starting 16 December in Adelaide. Jhye Richardson will return after almost three years to replace the injured Josh Hazlewood.
Cummins also declared that David Warner will feature in the day/night Test match despite a bruised rib.
Richardson has played two Test matches so far, both in 2018/19 against Sri Lanka. He bagged six wickets at an average of 20.50. He has been impressive in Australia’s Sheffield Shield campaign this summer, taking 23 wickets at 13.43.
Richardson was picked ahead of Michael Neser, who has been with every Australia Test squad since the 2019 Ashes in England. However, he has yet to earn a maiden international Test cap.
Warner's inclusion meant a Test return for Usman Khawaja's continues. Khawaja last played a Test match at the 2019 Ashes.
Australia is currently are 1-0 up in the five-match series after beating England by nine wickets in the series opener.
