Australia will tour Pakistan next March to play three Tests, three ODIs and an T20I, as confirmed by the PCB. This will be Australia’s first visit to Pakistan since 1998.
The Test series, part of the ICC World Test Championship, will begin on 3 March. The three Test matches will be played in Karachi, Rawalpindi and Lahore. The three ODIs and the T20I will be played after that, between 29 March and 5 April, all in Lahore.
‘I am delighted to welcome Australia to Pakistan. They are one of the high-performing sides and them playing in our backyard for the first time after a gap of 24 years will be a special treat for the fans,’ said PCB Chairman Rameez Raja.
Cricket Australia Chief Executive Nick Hockley thanked PCB for arranging the tour: ‘We thank the PCB for their considerable efforts in planning for the tour and look forward to continuing to work closely over the coming months to finalise the necessary operations, logistics, security and Covid-19 protocols.’
Australia last toured Pakistan under Mark Taylor. They won the three-match Test series 1-0 and clean swept the ODIs 3-0.
After that, Pakistan hosted the four series with Australia, all away from home: 2002/2003 (Pakistan lost 0-3, in Sri Lanka and the UAE), 2010 (drew 1-1, in England), 2014/15 (won 2-0, in the UAE) and 2018/19 (won 1-0, in the UAE).
