Australia vs India, Women’s Test Day 4 Preview: Draw looms despite Indian advantage Image

A draw is the most likely result in the one-off Day-Night Women’s Test match between Australia and India after just seven wickets fell on an extended Day 3 in Carrara.

With a maximum of 108 overs left in the contest, Australia are still trail by 234 runs, and 85 behind the follow-on target of 228. They closed on 143/4 at stumps after India declared their first innings on 377/8. Ellyse Perry is unbeaten on 27 and Ashleigh Gardner on 13.

For India, Deepti Sharma’s 167-ball 66, followed by Jhulan Goswami’s burst with the new ball, were the highlights of the day. Goswami and Pooja Vastrakar picked up two wickets each to reduce Australia to 119/4 before Gardner and Perry held the fort, and batted out the final 10.2 overs of play.

Still, India's chances of winning this game from here seem bleak unless something drastic happens on the final day. They drew with England in Bristol back in June, and have not lost in their last five Tests. They will be happy even with a draw to extend their unbeaten streak in this format to six and to go with the multiformat series alive.

Betway Fantasy Tips

- Keep faith in Goswami. She will pick up at least a couple of wickets more on Day 4.

- Perry is still in the middle, and Annabel Sutherland yet to come. They can chip in with useful contributions to help Australia avoid the follow-on.

- Rajeshwari Gayakwad looked ominous on Day 3, despite being remained wicketless after bowling 12 overs. Back her again.
