Bangladesh cruised to an 88-run win over Afghanistan in the second ODI, in Chattogram, to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. They set a target of 307, which proved to be too much for Afghanistan, who were bowled out for 218 inside 50 overs.

As with the first ODI, Fazalhal Farooqi again struck in his opening spell, getting Tamim Iqbal for 12. Rashid Khan then pinned Shakib Al Hasan (20) leg-before to reduce Bangladesh to 83/2. Mushfiqur Rahim (86) and Liton Das then led the recovery.

Das struck two fours off each of Rashid and Rahmat Shah in the space of five overs. Rahim, too, started to play his shots, hitting back-to-back fours off Mohammad Nabi. Das was dropped by Hashmatullah Shahidi in the 38th over. Two overs later he reached his fifth ODI century with a four over extra cover. He fell in the 47th over, when he holed out to Mujeeb Ur Rahman for 136. Fareed Ahmed got Rahim next ball.

In response, Afghanistan lost three wickets for just 33. Riaz Hasan was the first to go, run out in the second over. Shoriful Islam claimed Shahidi, while Shakib had Azmatullah Omarzai stumped.

Rahmat (52) and Najibullah Zadran (54) added 89 for the fourth wicket, but could not manage to keep the asking rate in control. Both fell to Taskin Ahmed, and Afghanistan were bowled out for 218. For Bangladesh, Taskin and Shakib claimed two wickets each.

Bangladesh 306/4 in 50 overs (Liton Das 136; Fareed Ahmad 2-56) beat Afghanistan 218 in 45.1 overs (Najibullah Zadran 54; Taskin Ahmed 2-31) by 88 runs. Player of the Match: Liton Das.
