The Stars struggled to break free after opting to bat first. Justin Avendano and Charlie Wakim got out cheaply to Nic Maddinson. Travis Dean scored 32 before Maddinson bowled him in the ninth over. Hilton Cartwright's 41 was the highest score of the innings. Richardson, Maddinson and Reece Topley picked three wickets each.
A 63-run stand between Aaron Finch and Shaun Marsh set up the platform for an easy win after Sam Harper fell for 10. Marsh made 21 in 17 balls, while Finch scored 50 before falling to Tom O'Connell. James Seymour (17) and Mackenzie Harvey (23) then took the Renegades past the target.
