Sydney Sixers defeated Adelaide Strikers off the last ball to book a place in the final of Big Bash League 2021/22. They chased down 168 with four wickets in hand, courtesy an unbeaten 58-ball 98 from Hayden Kerr.
With 12 required off the last over, Harry Conway removed Sean Abbott with the first ball, while Ben Dwarshuis was run out off the second. But Kerr held his nerve and struck a six and a four to take his team across the target. In all, he struck 10 fours and two sixes, and forged a 55-run stand with Abbott (41 in 20 balls) for the fifth wicket. For the Strikers, Conway and Henry Thornton picked up two wickets each.
Earlier, the Strikers got off to a poor start, losing both openers inside two overs. Steve O'Keefe dismissed Alex Carey (1), while D'Arcy Short (6) holed out to Christian off Abbott, who struck again in his next over to reduce the Strikers to 21/3.
Ian Cockbain (48) and Jonathan Wells (62*) then added 83 for the fourth wicket to steady the innings. Matt Renshaw's 20-ball 36 propelled them to 167/4.
