Perth Scorchers and Sydney Sixers will be up against each other in the Qualifier of Big Bash League 2021/22 at Docklands Stadium, on 22 January.
The Scorchers won 11 matches and lost only three to finish at the top of the points table. They will be boosted by the returns of Mitchell Marsh and Josh Inglis, both of whom had missed a major part of the season after being called up by the national side. Colin Munro has also recovered from Covid-19. However, they will miss Cameron Bancroft and Matt Kelly, both of whom have contracted the Coronavirus.
The Sixers, on the other hand, will head into the contest off a 27-run win over Brisbane Heat. They scored 178/6 before restricting the Heat to 151. They won nine matches and lost four in the league stage. Nathan Lyon and Steven O'Keefe will be the main spinners, while Sean Abbott and Hayden Kerr, who is among the leading wicket-takers of the league, will lead the pace attack. Steven Smith's application to play this game was rejected by Cricket Australia.
