Sydney Sixers 161/7 in 20 overs (Avendano 52; Fawad 3-16) lost to Adelaide Strikers 165/2 in 17.3 overs (Cockbain 71*; Dwarshuis 1-37) by 8 wickets with 15 balls to spare. Player of the Match: Ian Cockbain.

Adelaide Strikers beat Sydney Sixers by eight wickets in Match 51 of the Big Bash League 2021/22. They restricted the Sixers to 161/7 after the latter opted to bat and reached the target with 15 balls to spare.

Ian Cockbain was adjudged Player of the Match for his unbeaten 42-ball 71. He was supported by Matt Renshaw (50 in 31 balls) to get the job done inside 18th over. For the Sixers, Hayden Kerr and Ben Dwarshuis took a wicket each.

Earlier, Justin Avendano top-scored with 29-ball 52 for the Sixers. With 3-16, Fawad Ahmed was the pick of the Strikers bowler, while Peter Siddle returned 2-32.

Brisbane Heat v Perth Scorchers

Brisbane Heat 155/7 in 20 overs (Bryant 81; Hatzoglou 2-17) lost to Perth Scorchers 156/4 in 18.4 overs (Marsh 59; Swepson 2-19) by 6 wickets with 8 balls to spare. Player of the Match: Mitchell Marsh.

Mitchell Marsh hit three sixes and six fours in his 34-ball 59 to help Perth Scorchers chase 156 against Brisbane Heat with six wickets and eight balls to spare in Match 52. Kurtis Patterson’s 20-ball 26 was the next best score for the Scorchers.

The Heat rode on Max Bryant’s 56-ball 81 to post 155/7 after opting to bat. Jimmy Peirson remained unbeaten on a 19-ball 31. For the Scorchers, Jason Behrendorff and Peter Hatzoglou took two wickets each, while Ashton Agar, Marsh and Andrew Tye had one apiece.
