An unbroken 109-run stand between Alex Ross (61* in 46 balls) and Sam Billings (44 in 36) helped Sydney Thunder beat Brisbane Heat by seven wickets in Match 2 of the 2021/22 Big Bash League in Canberra. Chasing 141, the Thunder were reduced to 32/3 before Ross and Billings held the fort and saw off the target with 17 balls to spare. Liam Guthrie returned 2-32 and Xavier Bartlett 1-20.
Earlier, Ben Duckett scored 35-ball 46 and Sam Heazlett 37-ball 42 to take the Heat to 140/8 after they were asked to bat. Bartlett remained unbeaten on 26 off 18 balls. With 3-22, Daniel Sams did the most damage for the Thunder, while Gurinder Sandhu and Nathan McAndrew claimed two wickets apiece.
