Sean Abbott starred with ball (4-31) and bat (37*) to help Sydney Sixers beat Brisbane Heat by two wickets in Match 25 of the Big Bash League 2021/22 in Sydney.

Abbott was ably supported by Ben Dwarshuis (4-1-13-2) and Hayden Kerr (2-18), who knocked over the Sixers for 105 in 19.1 overs after they opted to bat. Jack Wildermuth (27), Ben Duckett (21) and Max Bryant (22) were the only Heat batters who scored more than 10.

The Sixers lost Josh Philippe and James Vince without scoring, before eventually managing to reach the target in the last ball of the innings, courtesy Abbott’s unbeaten 43-ball 37. They were 47/8 at one point before Abbott and Dwarshuis (23*) added an unbroken 59 to win the match. All five Heat bowlers took at least one wicket.

Hobart Hurricanes v Melbourne Renegades

Hobart Hurricanes 206/5 in 20 overs (McDermott 127; Topley 2-18) beat Melbourne Renegades 121 in 15.5 overs (Harper 57; Rogers 3-24) by 85 runs. Player of the Match: Ben McDermott.

Hobart Hurricanes blew Melbourne Renegades away in Match 26 of the BBL 2021/22. They piled 206/5 after being asked to bat, thanks to Ben McDermott’s 65-ball 127, laced with nine sixes and nine fours. Tim David remained not out on nine-ball 30.

Then the Hurricanes bowlers, led by Sandeep Lamichhane (3-32), skittled out the Renegades for 121 in 15.5 overs. Sam Harper top-scored with 35-ball 57, but could not find enough support.
