Warwickshire need to pick up four more wickets to beat Lancashire in the final of the Bob Willis Trophy 2021 at the Lord’s.
Warwickshire piled 518 after Lancashire’s 78 in the first innings, and then reduce them to 171/6 in the second innings before bad light forced early stumps on Day 3. Lancashire still have to score 269 runs more to make Warwickshire bat again.
After resuming on 464/7, Warwickshire managed to add 54 more before they were bowled out, thanks to Craig Miles’s unbeaten 30. Matthew Parkinson returned 4-78, and Jack Blatherwick 3-80.
Lancashire improved their batting in the second innings after a terrible show in the first. George Balderson’s 65 and Luke Wells’ 41 exhibited some resilience under pressure, but they were undone by Liam Norwell and Tim Bresnan respectively before the close of play. Luke Wood and Rob Jones are at the crease, and will be looking to score runs quickly on the final day to reduce the deficit.
Brief Scores: Lancashire 78 (Wood 46*; Miles 5-28) and 171/6 (Balderson 65; Norwell 2-32) trail Warwickshire 518 (Rhodes 156; Parkinson 4-78) by 269 runs.
