Comilla Victorians defeated Fortune Barishal by 1 run to clinch their record third Bangladesh Premier League title. Sunil Narine was adjudged as Player of the Match for his 23-ball 57 and two wickets.
Narine did not take time to break free. He hit two sixes and a four to bring 18 runs off the first over, bowled by Mujeeb Ur Rahman. Narine struck two more sixes in the next over, and soon his half-century in 21 balls.
Narine's stay came to an end in the sixth over, when he holed out to Najmul Hossain Shanto off Mehedi Hasan Rana. The next four batters fell cheaply, and the Victorians soon found themselves on 95/6. Moeen Ali's 32-ball 38 drove them to 151/9.
Chasing 152, the Barishal got off to a great start despite losing Munim Shahriar for a seven-ball duck early in the innings. Chris Gayle and Shykat Ali added 74 runs for the second wicket. Shykat scored 58 in 34 balls before falling to Tanvir Islam, while Gayle was pinned leg-before on 33 by his compatriot Narine.
With 10 runs needed off the last over, Shohidul Islam did well to concede only eight. He also picked up a wicket with the last ball to win the game for his team.
