England have recalled Jos Buttler and Jack Leach for the fifth and final Test against India, starting on 10 September at Old Trafford, Manchester.

Buttler missed the fourth Test at The Oval to be at the birth of his second child. Leach, on the other hand, was part of the England squad for the first two games, but has not played a Test match since March.

Jonny Bairstow kept wickets at the Oval in Buttler’s absence, and was moved one slot down from his preferred No. 5 in the batting order. Ollie Pope came to bat at Bairstow’s usual position, and scored 81 in the first innings.

If England opt for two spinners in the final Test match, Leach is likely to replace Craig Overton.

India are currently leading the five-match series 2-1. They have not won a series on English soil since 2007.

England squad: Joe Root (c), Jonny Bairstow (wk), Moeen Ali, James Anderson, Rory Burns, Jos Buttler (wk), Sam Curran, Haseeb Hameed, Dan Lawrence, Jack Leach, Dawid Malan, Craig Overton, Ollie Pope, Ollie Robinson, Chris Woakes, Mark Wood.
