Cameron Green quashes rumours about not being able to bowl at start of IPL 2023

Fast-bowling all-rounder Cameron Green of Australia has dispelled rumours that he won't be able to bowl for all or a portion of the forthcoming IPL 2023 season. According to a number of rumours, Green will be able to start bowling for the five-time IPL champion Mumbai Indians on April 13 in IPL 2023 as he recovers from a fractured finger.

"That is incorrect, no. I believe I've heard about this for a long now. I'm not sure how it got here. I've heard that in the beginning of the IPL, I'm completely accessible for both skill sets, so yeah, I'm not really sure where that came from "Green spoke with SEN WA Sportsday on the radio.

Green was forced to withdraw from the third Test now taking place in Sydney after breaking his finger on the second day of the Boxing Day Test against South Africa at the MCG. He has since undergone surgery.

He has, however, resolutely focused on getting well for the four-match Test series against India that gets underway on February 9. To be well and available for selection, both Green and Mitchell Starc, who also has a finger problem, are battling against time.

"Obviously, the upcoming Test Series is my top priority. I believe that the first one (in Nagpur) would be close between me and Starcy (Starc), but we will undoubtedly give ourselves the best chance.

Green will play for Mumbai in the IPL in 2023 after that series and the three ODIs he played in against India. Green was purchased by Mumbai for more than INR 17.5 crore at the IPL 2023 player auction, the second-highest price paid for a player after Sam Curran of England. The all-rounder is under pressure, but he isn't letting the large IPL paycheck deter him.

"Yes, it obviously worked out incredibly nicely, but I also believe that you should perform to kind of repay the trust that they placed in you. Simply being surrounded by the appropriate people, in my opinion, keeps you very humble."

"You've got the right people to drag you down if you get too ahead of yourself, but also the right people to bring you back up when you're going not as great as you like. I think that's kind of Cricket. It's a game of failures, you're going to fail more than you succeed. As long as you have the right people around you to kind of bring you back up is probably key," he concluded.
