Yuzvendra Chahal and K Gowtham have both tested positive for Covid-19, reported ESPNCricinfo. They were part of the group of eight players who had earlier been classified as ‘contacts’ of Krunal Pandya. Krunal had tested positive for the virus on 27 July.
Chahal and Gowtham had both tested negative ahead of India’s third T20I against Sri Lanka, but tested positive a day after.
All three will have to stay back in Colombo until they test negative. Four out of the other six – Hardik Pandya, Manish Pandey, Deepak Chahar and Ishan Kishan – will return to India along with the rest of the squad, on 30 July.
The other two, Prithvi Shaw and Suryakumar Yadav, will directly travel to the UK to join the Test squad. India will play their first Test match against England on 4 August.
Krunal, Chahal Gowtham are expected to spend at least another week in Sri Lanka.
