The Chennai Super Kings had their worst IPL season in 2020 as they failed to qualify for the last four for the first time. MS Dhoni, who announced his retirement from international cricket before the last season wasn’t able to deliver as a captain and a batsman.
Chennai have brought in some much needed reinforcements for IPL 2021. Chinna Thala, Suresh Raina is back having pulled out of the previous edition of the league due to personal reasons.
Indian all rounder Krishnappa Gowtham was the most expensive buy for CSK in the IPL 2021 auction. The franchise invested ₹ 9.25 crore to bring in the 32-year old.
England all-rounder Moeen Ali was also bagged by the franchise for ₹ 7 crore. The most talked about buy from the Chennai based franchise was that of Cheteshwar Pujara for ₹ 50 lakh, who is part of the league after six years.
