Hampshire v Yorkshire, Southampton
Yorkshire 243 (Bess 54; Abbott 3-47) and 312/6 decl. (Ballance 101*; Barker 2-36) lead Hampshire 163 (Vince 49; Coad 3-29) and 26/2 (Weatherley 16*; Bess 1-1) by 367 runs.
Defeat looms large over Hampshire after they lost two early wickets for just 26 by the stumps on Day 3. They need another 368 to win this game or bat out for the entire day to avoid defeat, which seems highly unlikely.
Earlier, Yorkshire declared their innings on 312/6. George Hill and Tom-Kohler Cadmore added 121 for the third wicket. Hill got out on 55, while Kohler-Cadmore missed his century by 11 runs. Their act of defiance was followed by a blitz from Gary Ballance, who scored 102 runs in 86 balls.
Ian Holland and Tom Alsop were two batters to fall for Hampshire. Joe Weatherley is batting on 16, and Mason Crane was sent as a night-watchman.
Lancashire vs Warwickshire
Warwickshire 371 (Benjamin 127; Mahmood 4-77) and 51/1 (Chris Benjamin 28; Mahmod 1-17) lead Lancashire 341 (Bohannon 710; Norwell 6-57) by 82 runs.
Resuming on his overnight 59, Josh Bohannon played a giant knock, chipping almost half of the deficit on his own. He made 170 as Lancashire ended with a first-innings total of 341. Skipper Dane Villas made 67, but the batters following him could not add much.
For Warwickshire, Liam Norwell claimed six wickets, and Danny Briggs picked three. Warwickshire was on 52/1 by the stumps on Day 3. Chris Benjamin is batting on 28, and Dom Sibley on 17.
Somerset vs Nottinghamshire
Nottinghamshire 448 (Patterson-White 101; Abell 3-84) beat Somerset 107 (Abell 35; Fletcher 4-21) and 181 (de Lange 36; Paterson 4-46) by an innings and 160 runs.
Nottinghamshire’s bowlers took 13 wickets on Day 3 to romp to a massive an innings and 160 runs victory over Somerset. Resuming on 87/3, Somerset were wrapped up for 107. Luke Fletcher picked four wickets, while Ben Hutton and Dane Paterson claimed three wickets each.
Nottinghamshire enforced the follow-on. Somerset lasted longer this time, but certainly not enough to save the game. They were bowled out for 181, with Marchant de Lange’s 36 as the highest score.
Paterson added four more wickets to his first innings tally, while Fletcher added three to his name, as both bowlers finished with seven wickets each.
