Northamptonshire 327 (Rossington 94; Price 4-72) lead Gloucestershire 90/6 (Dent 21; Procter 3-13) by 237 runs.
Northamptonshire reduced Gloucestershire to 90/6 after they were all out on 327 on Day 2 in Bristol.
Northants resumed on 232/5, and Adam Rossington (94) and Harry Gouldstone (43) helped them add another 95. Tom Price (4-72) was the pick of the Gloucestershire bowlers, while Ryan Higgins, Matt Taylor, and Jared Warner all claimed two wickets each.
Ben Sanderson (3-22) and Luke Procter (3-13) then ran through Gloucestershire before bad light called off the day early. Graeme van Buuren (19*) is still in the middle.
Glamorgan v Essex, Cardiff
Glamorgan 134 (Douthwaite 39; Snater 6-39) and 71/6 (Cooke 39*; Porter 2-14) lead Essex 320 (Browne 102; Reingold 3-15) by 115 runs.
Essex need four wickets on Day 3 to secure an innings victory over Glamorgan in Cardiff. Riding on Nick Browne’s 102 and Shane Snater’s 48, they put on 320 after Glamorgan’s 134 in the first innings. Steven Reingold picked up three wickets for Glamorgan, conceding 15.
Trailing by 186, Sam Cook (2-17) and Jamie Porter (2-14) did further damage to Glamorgan to slump them to 29/6. Chris Cooke (39*) and Andrew Salter (11*) batted watchfully till stumps to avoid a two-day defeat.
