Graeme van Buuren’s 56, along with handy contributions from the tail, helped Gloucestershire reach 191 in the first innings, after they resumed the day on 90/6. Matt Taylor, coming at No. 10, played 87 balls for an unbeaten 24. For Northamptonshire, Luke Procter picked five wickets and Ben Sanderson bagged three.
Northamptonshire finished Day 3 at 92/7. Their lead stands at 228. Tom Price and Ryan Higgins triggered a dramatic collapse, removing three of the Northants top four for a combined total of just 13 runs. Higgins claimed three wickets.
Glamorgan vs Essex, Cardiff
Glamorgan 134 (Douthwaite 39; Snater 6-39) and 112 (Cooke 47*; Cook 5-37) lost to Essex 320 (Browne 102; Reingold 3-15) by an innings and 74 runs.
It did not take Essex long to wrap up the proceedings on Day 3. They picked the last four wickets for just 41 runs as Glamorgan were bundled out for 112, losing the match by an innings and 74 runs. Chris Cooke remained unbeaten on 47.
Lukas Carey was the only batter to touch double digits in each innings. Sam Cook picked five wickets and James Porter three.
