All six teams of Group 1 were in action in the sixth round of the County Championship 2021-22. Let us have a look at how it went for them.
Derbyshire v Durham, Derby
Derbyshire 48/0 (Billy Godleman 24*) vs Durham
The second day’s play between Derbyshire and Durham match was called off without a ball being bowled. The on-field umpires took the decision at 13.00 local time.
Earlier on Day 1, Derbyshire posted 48/0 in just 17 overs of play. Openers Brooke Guest (23*) and Billy Godleman (24*) left unharmed after the rain-infected short spell.
Essex v Warwickshire, Chelmsford
Warwickshire 166 (Bresnan 50, Siddle 6-38) lead Essex 16/1 (Cook 11*; Norwell 1-5) by 150 runs
Resuming at 159/7, Warwickshire bowled out for 166 on Day 2 against Essex. Peter Siddle returned 6-38, his best bowling figures for Essex, while Sam Cook finished with 3-48. Jamie Porter took the remaining wicket of the innings, of Pieter Malan.
Bresnan notched up his 43rd First-class fifty before Siddle removed him and Liam Norwell in two successive deliveries.
In reply, Essex lost in-form batter Nick Browne (4). Alastair Cook (11*) and skipper Tom Westley (1*) then batted four overs together before rain ruined the rest of the play.
Nottinghamshire v Worcestershire, Trent Bridge
Nottinghamshire 51/3 (Hameed 24, Pennington 2-12) vs Worcestershire
Like Derbyshire versus Durham, the second day of the Nottinghamshire-Worcestershire match was called off without a single ball of play. Nottinghamshire were struggling at 51/3 at Day 1 stumps. Even then, only 15.5 overs were possible to be bowled.
