Derbyshire lost both Luis Reece (6) and Thomas Wood (9) after Steven Mullaney won the toss and asked them to bat. Brooke Guest (7) did not last either as they slumped to 40/3. Leus du Plooy (21*) and Matthew Critchley (23) added 35 for the fourth wicket before the latter fell to Joey Evison (4-4-0-1).
Du Plooy is still in middle with Fynn Hudson-Prentice (13*). They reached 91/5 before the bad light called off the day with 14 overs remaining.
