Let’s take a look at what transpired on Day 3 of the Group 1 County Championship fixture.
Nottinghamshire v Derbyshire, Trent Bridge
Derbyshire 149 (du Plooy 30, Hudson-Prentice 30; Fletcher 3-36) and 122 (Critchley 36; Fletcher 5-28) lost to Nottinghamshire 307 (Duckett 69*; Hudson-Prentice 4-50) by an innings and 36 runs.
Resuming the Day 3 on 256/7, Nottinghamshire added 51 to take a significant first-innings lead of 158. Ben Duckett, who was named in England’s squad for the Pakistan series, did not bat. He was replaced by Dane Schadendorf, who chipped in with 24 to take Nottinghamshire to 307. Fynn Hudson-Prentice claimed a five-for.
Luke Fletcher and Dane Paterson then ran through the Derbyshire, sharing eight wickets. Fletcher provided the first breakthrough, with the wicket of of Thomas Wood. Luis Reece and Brooke Guest hung in for some time before the latter was undone by Brett Hutton.
This opened the floodgates. Other than a 45-run partnership between Matthew Critchley and Harvey Hosein, none of them offered any resistance.
Dane Schadendorf has had a busy day behind the stumps, with four catches. Fletcher finished the match with eight wickets to his name. Derbyshire were bundled out for 122 and lost by an innings and 36 runs.
Warwickshire v Durham, Edgbaston
Warwickshire 237 (Yates 102; Raine 3-51) lead Durham 173/5 (Bedingham 37*; Miles 4-42) by by 64 runs.
Not much of the action was possible on Day 3 in the County Championship fixture between Warwickshire and Durham. In response to Warwickshire’s 237, Durham made 173/5 before the play was abandoned after tea.
Cameron Bancroft played over 100 balls for his 32. Bancroft and Matty Potts (35) added 68 runs for the second wicket after Michael Jones got out early.
David Bedingham is unbeaten on 37, with Ned Eckersley from the other end is on 18. For Warwickshire, Craig Miles picked up four wickets.
