Somerset 242/7 (Conway 88; Griffiths 3-48) vs Leicestershire
Devon Conway hit 88 on County Championship debut, against Leicestershire. He shared 143 for the first wicket with Steven Davies (66). But it all went in vain when the middle order stumbled, and Somerset closed Day 1 at Taunton on 242/7.
Gavin Griffiths was pick of the Leicestershire bowlers with 3-48, while Will Davis (2-40) bagged two wickets. Roelof van der Merwe (18*) and Josh Davey (4*) are in middle.
Hampshire v Surrey, Southampton
Hampshire 229/7 (Holland 58; Clark 4-59) vs Surrey
Kyle Jamieson was only able to bowl six overs on his County Championship debut, against Hampshire at the Rose Bowl, where he claimed seven wickets in the World Test Championship final against India two weeks ago.
Hampshire finished Day 1 at 229/7, with Ian Holland top-scoring 58. Colin de Grandhomme is still batting on 48. He added 61 for the sixth wicket with Lewis McManus (24) to recover Somerset from 155/5. Jordan Clark did the most damage for Surrey with 4-59.
