Both fixtures of the Group 3 of the County Championship ended up in a draw.
Sussex vs Kent, Hove
Sussex 256 (van Zyl 52; Quinn 4-54) drew with Kent 145 (Leaning 63; Robinson 3-29) and 387/4 decl. (Leaning 127*, Archer 1-14)
Heavy showers delayed proceedings before Jack Leaning batted out the rest of the day. He added 172 runs with Ollie Robinson for the fourth wicket before both captains agreed for a draw.
It was Leaning’s sixth First-class hundred. He had also made 63 in the first innings as the rest of the batters fell like a deck of cards. Robinson played a perfect foil to Leaning, as he scored 85 at a decent pace before getting lbw by Tom Clark.
Jofra Archer’s elbow injury prevented him from taking the field on Day 4. He is also set to miss the upcoming Test series against New Zealand.
Glamorgan vs Yorkshire, Cardiff
Glamorgan 149 (Lloyd 31; Brook 3-13) and 164/4 (Carlson 88*, Coad 2-16) drew with Yorkshire 230 (Root 99; Neser 5-39)
Only 13 overs could be bowled on Day 4 of the fixture between Glamorgan and Yorkshire. Kiran Carlson’s sixth half-century of the season ensured a third draw for Glamorgan. They now sit at third place.
Resuming on 108/3, Glamorgan lost David Lloyd, dismissed on 40 by Ben Coad. Carlson and skipper Chris Cooke then added 47 runs for the fifth wicket before Cook shook hands with Steven Patterson, agreeing to a draw.
Yorkshire are yet to lose a game this season. With three victories and as many daws, they sit at the top of the points table, though Lancashire, five points behind them, have a match in hand.
