Four of the six teams were in action on Day 4 of the County Championship 2021. Let us have a look at how it went for them.
Northamptonshire vs Lancashire, Northampton
Lancashire 88/1 (Davies 51*; Berg 1-28) drew with Northamptonshire
Despite a frustrating visit of Northampton, Lancashire jumped to the top of the Group 3 table. Northamptonshire bowled just 6.4 overs on the final day – and 34.3 overs in the entire match – in what was the only innings.
Alex Davies notched up his fourth half-century of the season. He was 51 not out when the umpires called the game off. Luke Wells, on seven, remained unbeaten on the other end. Gareth Berg picked up the only wicket of the match, of Keaton Jennings (27).
Kent vs Glamorgan, Canterbury
Kent 307 (Stevens 190; van der Gugten 4-34, Neser 4-67) and 60/1 decl. (Cox 27*; Neser 1-28) drew with Glamorgan 64/3 decl. (Root 26*; Quinn 2-10) and 23/1 (Lloyd 17; Quinn 1-14)
Heavy downpour wrecked enterprising attempts by the Kent and Glamorgan captains to enforce a result at Canterbury. Glamorgan declared their first innings on their overnight score of 64/3, while Kent did the same after a rapid 60/1.
Chasing 304 in 84 overs, Glamorgan lost David Lloyd (19) early. However, rain returned after seven overs of play, and the umpires called off the contest at 13.45 local time.
