Division 1

Lancashire v Hampshire, Liverpool

Hampshire 143 (Crane 25; Parkinson 3-9) lead Lancashire 25/3 (Bohannon 11*; Abbas 2-15) by 118 runs.

Hampshire fought back against Lancashire after they were bundled out for 143 on Day 1 at Aigburth, Liverpool. George Balderson and Matthew Parkinson claimed three wickets each to bowl out Hampshire for a paltry total.

Lancashire were reduced to 25/3 at the close of play, with Mohammad Abbas returning 2-15.

Nottinghamshire v Yorkshire, Trent Bridge

Nottinghamshire 292/9 (Clarke 109; Coad 3-71) vs Yorkshire

Joe Clarke’s 109 put Nottinghamshire in a commanding position against Yorkshire after Day 1 at Trent Bridge. Notts were 173/6 at one point. Clarke and Joey Evison added 97 for the seventh wicket. They closed the day on 292/9 after they were asked to bat.

Warwickshire v Somerset, Edgbaston

Warwickshire 283/4 (Hain 83*; Brooks 2-46) vs Somerset

Sam Hain's unbeaten 83 helped Warwickshire to finish Day 1 on 283/4 against Somerset, at Edgbaston. He was ably supported by Will Rhodes (60) and Dom Sibley (56) to guide Warwickshire reach there. For Somerset, Jack Brooks has picked up two wickets so far, conceding 46.

Division 2

Essex vs Northamptonshire, Chelmsford

Northampton 81 (Gay 38; S Cook 5-21) and 23/5 (Procter 14*; S Cook 4-5) trail Essex 170 (Wheater 34; White 4-40) by 86 runs.

Essex’s Sam Cook picked up nine wickets against Northamptonshire as 25 wickets fell on Day 1 at Chelmsford. Northants were first dismissed for 81 in the first innings after Cook’s 5-21, then were left reeling on 23/5 at stumps. Cook’s figures in the second innings read 4-5 so far.

In between them, Essex were bowled out for 170, with Adam Wheater top-scoring with 34. Tom Taylor and Jack White took four wickets apiece.

Gloucestershire v Durham, Bristol

Durham 140 (Lees 40; Gohar 5-50) trail Gloucestershire 146/6 (Van Buuren 62; Trevaskis 3-47) by 6 runs.

 Gloucestershire reached 146/6 after bowling Durham out for 140 on Day 1 in Bristol..Zafar Gohar (5-50) Graeme van Buuren (3-28) did the most damage for Gloucestershire.

Durham were 93/4 at one stage, but van Buuren’s 62 helped them to recover from there. They closed on 146/6, with a lead of six runs.

Surrey v Glamorgan, The Oval

Glamorgan 379/4 (Lloyd 121; Virdi 2-69) v Surrey

Glamorgan racked up 379/4 on Day 1 against Surrey at The Oval. David Lloyd scored 121 and Joe Cooke 58. Edward Byrom (45), Kiran Carlson (45)*, and Chris Cooke (44) all chipped in with useful contributions. Daniel Moriarty and Amar Virdi picked up two wickets each.

Division 3

Kent v Middlesex, Canterbury

Middlesex 147 (Stoneman 59; Stevens 4-21) lead Kent 82/4 (Leaning 27; Murtagh 2-19) by 65 runs.

Middlesex lost their last eight wickets for 26, which includes five ducks, before they were skittled out for 147 against Kent on Day 1 at Canterbury. Darren Stevens dismissed Mark Stoneman (59) to trigger a collapse from 121/2. He ended with 4-21.

Kent reached 82/4 at stumps. They still trail by 65 runs.

Sussex v Derbyshire, Hove

Derbyshire 371/5 (Madsen 111; Crocombe 2-69) vs Sussex

Derbyshire reached 371/5 after Day 1 against Sussex. Harry Came (45) and Billy Godleman (52) got them off to a solid start before Henry Crocombe struck twice in quick successions. Wayne Madsen took charge from there, and notched up his first hundred of the season. It helped them to recover, and Matthew Critchley (85) gave Madsen the support he required.

Worcestershire v Leicestershire, New Road

Leicestershire 222 (Kimber 71; Leach 3-38) lead Worcestershire 30/1 (Libby 16*; Wright 1-18) by 192 runs.

Louis Kimber's 71 helped Leicestershire recover from 133/6 to 222 all out against Worcestershire on Day 1 at the New Road. Joe Leach finished with 3-38.

In reply, Leicestershire had reached 30/1 before the close of play.
