At least eight Indian cricketers, including Axar Patel, Shikhar Dhawan, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Shreyas Iyer, have tested positive for Covid-19 ahead of India's ODI series against West Indies. They positive in an RT-PCR test conducted on Wednesday, just before the players were supposed to enter bio-bubble. The Indian contingent reached Ahmedabad on Sunday, 30 January, and underwent mandatory isolation of three days.
'All those who have tested positive have been moved to a different floor in the hotel and are in isolation,' sources from the Indian camp told Cricbuzz.
The rest of the Indian squad has been isolated. They will be required to undergo another RT-PCR test before the training session. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has not announced replacements.
Meanwhile, India added Mayank Agarwal and Ishan Kishan to their ODI squad as primary replacements.
The first ODI of the three-match series is scheduled at Narendra Modi Stadium on 6 February.
