The fixtures for the 2020 edition of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) was announced on Monday (July 27). The tournament will be played from August 18 until September 10 and will comprise of a total of 33 games.

The opening day will see last year’s runners-up, Guyana Amazon Warriors, going up against Trinbago Knight Riders in the first game whereas last year’s champions, Barbados Tridents, will take on St. Kitts & Nevis Patriots in the second game of the day.

All of the 33 matches during the season are scheduled to be played in Trinidad and Tobago. Two stadiums have been chosen as the primary venues for the tournament. While the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba will host 23 games, including the semi finals and final, the Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain will host the remaining 10 matches.

The tournament will be played behind closed doors in a bio-secure environment and all necessary guidelines and protocols will be followed to avoid spread of COVID-19 virus.

“This year will be a different CPL, but the standard will be higher than ever. We have seen the appetite for live sport since it has returned after a prolonged absence, and the interest in CPL will be higher than ever with it being the first franchise T20 tournament to return,” said Damien O’Donohoe, the Hero CPL’s CEO.
