CPL 2021, Guyana Amazon Warriors vs Barbados Royals: Preview, Blitzpools fantasy tips, probable XIs Image

Match 16 of the Caribbean Premier League 2021 will have Guyana Amazon Warriors pitted against Barbados Royals at the Warner Park in St Kitts. With only one win in five attempts, the Royals are placed at the bottom, while the Warriors are at fourth place.

The Warriors opening pair is still not settled. They started with Chandrapaul Hemraj and Brandon King but replaced the latter with Mohammad Hafeez after two games. Hafeez did well in the first match, but has struggled to replicate the same.

They will be heading into this contest off a 51-run defeat to Saint Lucia Kings, when, chasing 150, they were bowled out for just 98. Their top five batters combined to score just 20. Slotted back from No. 3 to No. 8, Odean Smith then responded with a 18-ball 31. With three wickets, Smith was also one of their best bowlers, but Naveen-ul-Haq’s profligacy is not a good sign for them.

The Royals suffered an agonising last-ball defeat against the table toppers St Kitts & Nevis Patriots. Sheldon Cottrell smashed a last-ball six to drive the Patriots across the finishing line.

The 17th over, bowled by Raymon Reifer, where he bowled five wides and conceded 21, changed the complexion of the game. The Royals were in control until then. Jake Lintott picked two wickets on his debut, and Nyeem Young picked three.

Betway Fantasy tips

  • Smit Patel made 54 in 48 balls in his first match for Barbados, while Pooran top-scored for the Warriors in the last game. Pick both as wicketkeepers.
  • Glenn Phillips and Shimron Hetmyer are ideal options for batters.
  • Smith has blown hot and cold throughout the campaign. Pick him but there is a risk factor involved here.
