With spots for CPL 2021’s semi-finals up for grabs, Guyana Amazon Warriors and Jamaica Tallawahs will go up against each other on 13 September, in Match 29 of the season at Warner Park, St Kitts. The two sides last met less than 24 hours ago, where Guyana emerged victorious by 46 runs.
Guyana improved their Net Run Rate significantly with the win, and Nicholas Pooran led from the front to make that happen. His 39-ball 75 not out, laced with four fours and seven sixes, was his highest individual score of the season. He got little support from his teammates after opting to bat, yet he managed to take his side to 169/6. For Jamaica, Chris Green returned excellent figures of 4-0-19-1.
Coming to the chase, Jamaica never really get going. Their explosive power-hitters, featuring Kennar Lewis, Andre Russell, Carlos Brathwaite, Rovman Powell, all failed to score anything substantial. As a result, they were bundled out for 123 in 19.1 overs.
Odean Smith bowled a maiden, and returned 3-21, while Naveen-ul-Haq was equally impressive for his two wickets. Gudakesh Motie kept things tight in the middle overs, and also got three wickets to his name.
It was a massive blow for Jamaica, who are currently stationed at fifth place in the points table. It is a now or never situation for both sides, though Jamaica have to wait for other results for their qualification even if they win this one.
Betway Fantasy Tips
– Expect Jamaica to make a comeback. Back Russell again for the captaincy role.
– Include both Lewis and Pooran among wicket-keepers, and overlook Anthony Bramble. Remember, Pooran did not take the big gloves last time.
– Odean Smith has been a serious find of this season. He can be a safe vice-captain pick.
