Trinbago Knight Riders will face Guyana Amazon Warriors in the 11th match of CPL 2021 at Warner Park in St Kitts on 1 September. With two wins and as many losses, the Knight Riders are positioned third in the points table. The warriors sit just below them, with one win and two defeats.
The two teams faced off in the season opener of CPL 2021. The Warriors defended a low total of 142 that night, which remains the only victory for them so far.
They will be head into this contest with a six-wicket defeat against St Kitts & Nevis Patriots. Brandon King was dropped from the side, while Mohammad Hafeez opened batting alongside Chandrapaul Hemraj. Hafeez did well, scoring 70 in 59 balls, while Shimron Hetmyer notched his second half-century of the campaign.
However, they were let down by their bowlers, of whom only Imran Tahir looked threatening. Naveen-ul-Haq, who was terrific in T20 Blast, has struggled to find rhythm.
The Knight Riders, meanwhile, are heavily reliant on Kieron Pollard in batting. The opening pair of Lendl Simmons and Sunil Narine has not quite worked out for them. Pollard made 41 in 29 balls to propel them to a fighting total against Saint Lucia Kings in their last match.
The bowlers did well to defend the total. Ravi Rampaul picked up three wickets, while Isuru Udana took two wickets.
