WTC final: Winners to receive INR 12 crore, runners-up 6 crore
The ICC announced the winners of the World Test Championship (WTC) final will receive USD 1.6 million, which is approximately INR 12 crores. The losing team, on the other hand, will get USD 800,000, around INR 6 crores.
‘The prize money for the team finishing third in the ICC WTC standings is $450,000 (Rs.3.38 crore approx). The team fourth on the table will be awarded $350,000 (Rs.2.62 crore), the one that finishes fifth gets $200,000 (Rs.1.5 crore approx) while the remaining four teams will get $100,000 each (Rs.75 lakh per team),’ announced the ICC.
The final between India and New Zealand will start on 18 June at the Ageas Bowl, Southampton.
Robinson to return to cricket with Sussex second team
Ollie Robinson will return to play for Sussex 2nd XI for a Twenty20 against Hampshire on 15 June. Robinson had decided to take a short break from cricket last week to spend time with his family. He missed Sussex’s Vitality Blast T20 games against Gloucestershire and Hampshire Hawks.
The ECB had suspended Robinson from international cricket after some of his politically incorrect historic tweets from 2012 and 2013 resurfaced. The matter is pending an investigation. Robinson has apologised ‘unreservedly’ for being 'thoughtless and irresponsible’ in his tweets.
Mushfiqur, Bryce named ICC players of the month
Mushfiqur Rahim and Kathryn Bryce have been voted ICC Players of the Month for May. Rahim, the men’s winner, played a Test match and three ODIs against Sri Lanka. He won Player of the Award in the first two ODIs, helping Bangladesh beat Sri Lanka in an ODI series for the first time.
Bryce recently became the first Scottish player to make the top 10 in the ICC rankings. She played four T20Is against Ireland in May. She scored 96 runs and claimed five wickets with an economy rate of 4.76.
Pakistan squad to be in 5-day quarantine before England tour
The Pakistan Men’s squad for the England and West Indies tours will be under complete room isolation for five days. They will then board a chartered flight to Manchester on 25 June.
Pakistan will play three ODIs and three T20Is in England, and five T20Is and two Tests in West Indies. The first ODI against England will take place at Cardiff on 8 July.
