Indian Women squads announced for England tour
The BCCI national selection committee announced two Women’s squads for the upcoming England tour. Shafali Verma, 17, has earned her maiden call up in both ODIs and Tests.
India will play one Test, three ODIs and three T20Is against England, starting 16 June. While Mithali Raj will lead in the Test and ODIs, Harmanpreet Kaur will captain in the T20Is.
Shikha Pandey and Tanya Bhatia have been called back. Rajeshwari Gayakwad, one of the regulars of the India Women, has missed out on the tour after failing to recover from Covid-19.

West Indies to host South Africa, Australia, Pakistan from June to August
Cricket West Indies confirmed their Men’s team will play three back-to-back home series, against South Africa, Australia and Pakistan, between 10 June and 24 August. This includes 4 Tests, 3 ODIs and 15 T20Is.
The summer will begin with the South Africa series. The teams will go head to head in two Tests and five T20Is. Also, it will be South Africa’s first bilateral West Indies tour since 2010.
Following that, the Australia series will have five T20Is and three ODIs. Finally, Pakistan will end up the Summer with five T20Is and two Tests.
Archer wants to play in the remainder of IPL if rescheduled
Jofra Archer said he is keen to feature for Rajasthan Royals (RR) once again if 2021 IPL is rescheduled at some point later this year. Archer was named MVP last season in the UAE but had missed the entire first half of the tournament due to an elbow injury. He has recently returned to action for Sussex.
Gurney retires from all cricket at 34
England seamer Harry Gurney, 34, announced his retirement from all forms of cricket after he failed to recover from a long-standing shoulder injury.
Gurney played 10 ODIs and 2 T20Is for England, all in 2014, and picked up 14 wickets. Overall, he claimed 614 scalps across all formats and won eight domestic trophies across the world.
Wasn’t making an excuse for Australia’s loss: Paine
Australia Men’s Test skipper Tim Paine clarified his comment on India a day after being slammed on social media. Paine said he ‘wasn't making any excuses’ for their 1-2 Test series defeat earlier this year.
Earlier, Paine opined Indian Cricket Team is good at ‘creating side shows’ to ‘distract’ their opponents which caused their final Test defeat at the Gabba.
