CPL: Gayle returns to St Kitts & Nevis Patriots; Tallawahs re-sign Shakib
Chris Gayle, 41, will return in the upcoming CPL edition, starting 28 August. He has re-joined one of his old teams, St Kitts & Nevis Patriots, after missing out the last season for personal reasons.
Meanwhile, Jamaica Tallawahs have re-signed Shakib Al Hasan. Shakib played for the Tallawahs in 2016 and 2017 and then moved to the Barbados Tridents in 2019. All six teams will reveal their teams following the player draft on 28 May.
Archer ready to miss England series against India, eyes T20 World Cup
Jofra Archer has stated that he does not want to rush to play the five-match Test series against India, starting 4 August. Archer further added his priorities are the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup and the Ashes.
In his Daily Mail column, Archer wrote, ‘One thing I am determined about the post-elbow operation is not to rush my comeback because my primary focus is to be playing for England in the T20 World Cup and Ashes later this year’.
Archer is currently undergoing a rehabilitation period under the constant scrutiny of the ECB and Sussex medical staff for his long-standing elbow injury.
Ireland Women win series 3-1
After losing the opening encounter, Ireland Women roared back to complete a 3-1 series win in the four-match T20I series following their six-wicket win against Scotland Women at the Civil Service Cricket Club, Belfast, on 27 May.
After Scotland posted 99/7, Gaby Lewis (49) and Ireland captain Laura Delany (27) forged 77 runs in 61 balls for the second wicket to ensure their victory with 37 balls to spare.
Lewis was adjudged Player of the Match for her valiant contribution at the top-order, while Lena Paul bagged the Player of the Series award after picking up nine wickets at an exceptional average of 4.44.
Naseem invited to rejoin PSL bubble despite breaching Covid-19 protocol
The PCB has recalled Naseem Shah to the Quetta Gladiators hotel in Lahore after releasing him from the PSL only three days ago. Naseem will be in isolation before flying to Abu Dhabi for the remainder of the tournament on 3 June.
Naseem had earlier breached Covid-19 protocols when he underwent a non-compliant RT-PCR Test.
