India vs Sri Lanka series to commence 13 July
The schedule for the ODI and T20I series between India and Sri Lanka has been confirmed by Sony Network, the broadcasters of the tour. There will be three ODIs on 13, 16 and 18 July, while the three-match T20I series will start 21 July.
Former Indian captain and NCA head Rahul Dravid will coach India on the tour. Dravid has previously worked as a batting consultant during the 2014 England tour and, had also coached India Under-19s and India A.
PM Johnson criticises ECB for suspending Robinson
UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has supported the comments made by Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden regarding the suspension of Ollie Robinson for historical racist and sexist tweets. Dowden asked the ECB to ‘think again’ after saying Robinson’s tweets were ‘offensive and wrong’ but ‘also a decade old and written by a teenager.’
Johnson’s official spokesperson said: ‘The Prime Minister is supportive of the comments from Oliver Dowden that he made via tweet this morning. As Oliver Dowden set out, these were comments made more than a decade ago written by someone as a teenager, for which they've rightly apologised.’
England recall Bess for Edgbaston Test against New Zealand
England have recalled Dom Bess for the second Test against New Zealand, starting 10 June at Edgbaston. Bess, 23, has been added as the replacement of Ollie Robinson, who was suspended indefinitely from all forms of international cricket for historical sexist and racist tweets.
Bess has picked up 14 wickets in the ongoing County Championship for Yorkshire, at 41.64. He has also claimed 36 wickets from 14 Tests so far. His best figures of 5-30 came against Sri Lanka earlier this year.
Led by Joe Root, England have been fined 40 percent of their match fees for slow over rate in the first Test at Lord’s.

Myburgh, bowlers guide Netherlands series win over Ireland
Netherlands beat Ireland by four wickets in the third and final ODI at the Sportpark Maarschalkerweerd, Utrecht. Ireland were first bowled out for 163 in 49.2 overs. Harry Tector (58) and George Dockrell (40) were the only two to score in excess of 25. For Netherlands, Fred Klaassen returned 3-23, Logan van Beek 3-29, and Timm van der Gugten 2-22.
Chasing 164, Stephan Myburgh (74) led from the front to ensure Netherlands’ win with 25 balls to spare. Simi Singh was the pick of the Ireland bowlers. He returned 3-29 in his 9.5 overs.
