RCB appoint Faf du Plessis as captain
Faf du Plessis will lead Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League 2022. Du Plessis, who will succeed Virat Kohli, was bought by the franchise for INR 7 crore in the mega auction. Last season his half-century in the final helped Chennai Super Kings win the trophy.
'Coming in as an outsider, I'm deeply grateful for the opportunity,' du Plessis said. 'It's no small thing to trust an outsider, an overseas player to do the job as a leader leader. My style in doing that is not going to be 'my way'. I will rely heavily on amazing experience of our domestic and international players.'
India Women beat West Indies by 155 runs
Centuries from Smriti Mandhana (123) and Harmanpreet Kaur (109) helped India defeat West Indies by 155 runs at Seddon Park in Hamilton. This was the first loss of the tournament for West Indies. they were bowled out for 162 while chasing 318. Sneh Rana (3-22) was the pick of the bowlers. Deandra Dottin (62) and Hayley Matthews (43) got their team off a fiery start by adding 100 runs in just 12 overs. But Dottin's dismissal triggered a collapse.
Sri Lanka finish the day on 86/6
16 wickets fell on Day 1 of the second Test between India and Sri Lanka at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Sri Lanka bowled out India for 252 before ending the day on 86/6, with a deficit of 166 runs. Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami claimed five wickets between them. Earlier, Shreyas Iyer's counter-attacking 92 drove India to 252 after they four wickets for 86. Lasith Embuldeniya and Praveen Jayawickrama claimed three wickets each for the tourists.
Shakib to tour South Africa for all three formats
Shakib Al Hasan has agreed to tour South Africa and will be available for all three formats. Earlier he has requested the board to not consider him for three ODIs and two Tests that Bangladesh are scheduled to play in South Africa.
''I have spoken with Papon bhai and we could do the plan for the whole year. I will be available in all three formats and the board will decide when to give me rest,'' Shakib told on Saturday.
