Sri Lanka appoints Jayawardene as consultant coach
Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has appointed Mahela Jayawardene as their consultant coach. Jayawardene will work with various development squads for the next twelve months. His main focus will be on Sri Lanka's Under-19 squad, as the ICC Under-19 World Cup is set to be staged next year.
'My main role will be supporting our team of national coaches and support staff in terms of our preparation and strategic-thinking during the coming year,' said Jayawardene.
Rohit to miss Test series versus South Africa
Rohit Sharma has been ruled out of the forthcoming Test series in South Africa due to a hamstring injury. Rohit got injured during one of the practice sessions, at Bandra Kurla Complex in Mumbai.
He has been replaced by Priyank Panchal, who is already in South Africa. He led India A in the unofficial Tests, and also scored 96 in one of the innings.
Pakistan defeat West Indies by 63 runs
Pakistan beat West Indies by 63 runs in the opening T20I of the three-match series, at the National Stadium in Karachi. They scored 200/6 and bowled out West Indies 137.
Mohammad Rizwan top-scored with 78, and Haider Ali slammed 68 in 39 balls. Mohammad Wasim Jr then picked up 4-40 and Shadab Khan 3-17 to derail West Indies' chase.
Matthews named ICC Players of the Month for November
Hayley Matthews has been adjudged as ICC Player of the Month for November. She played a crucial role in West Indies' 3-0 win against Pakistan in the ODI series. In the first game, she notched a half-century and picked up three wickets.
In the men's category, David Warner won this award. Warner was named Player of the Tournament in the ICC T20 World Cup.
