CPL 2022 to feature women's league alongside men's tournament
The 2022 edition of the Caribbean Premier League will have a women's league for the first time. It will run alongside the men's league, from 30 August. Barbados Royals, Guyana Amazon Warriors and Trinbago Knight Riders will feature in the WCPL.
'Increasing the opportunities for West Indian women and girls to get involved in cricket is one of CWI's strategic priorities, and we are delighted that we have been able to partner with CPL to further the expansion plans that we had first unveiled in 2019 prior to the arrival of the Covid Pandemic,' Ricky Skerritt, the Cricket West Indies president, said.
Bangladesh tour of Ireland to be part of ICC Super League
All three ODIs of Bangladesh's upcoming tour to Ireland will be a part of the ICC World Cup Super League. The cut-off date has been extended to 30 March 2023 to accommodate this series. Earlier the tour was scheduled for 2020 but was postponed due to coronavirus.
'Yes, the cut-off date of ICC Super League is extended,' Nizamuddin Chowdhury told Cricbuzz. 'BCB and our Irish counterparts requested ICC to extend it, so that we can complete our Ireland tour and we are expecting to do that by May'.
India beat Sri Lanka by 238 runs
Dimuth Karunaratne struck his 14th Test century in difficult conditions but it was not enough for Sri Lanka to avoid a defeat and a 0-2 clean sweep. They lost the Bengaluru Test match by 238 runs.
Karunaratne and Kusal Mendis added 97 for the second wicket before the latter fell for 54. Six balls later, Ravindra Jadeja bowled Angelo Mathews. Dhananjaya de Silva, too, got out cheaply. R. Ashwin finished with four wickets, and Jasprit Bumrah claimed three.
Pakistan in trouble after getting bowled out for 148
After a lacklustre batting effort led to them getting bowled out for 148, Pakistan are now staring at a big defeat in the second Test match, in Karachi. Babar Azam's 36 was the highest score of the innings.
Ahead by 489 runs, Australia will resume Day 4 on 81/1, with Marnus Labuschagne on 37 and Usman Khawaja on 35. It will not be easy for Pakistan to see out the last five sessions on a pitch that has assisted Australian quicks.
Two DRS per innings in IPL 2022
Teams in the Indian Premier League 2022 will have two referrals (DRS) per innings. Further, the BCCI has also decided to implement the new amendment in MCC that says an incoming batter will always take the strike unless the dismissal happens on the last ball of the over. Another major change is that if Super Over fails is not possible due to any reason in playoffs/final, the team with more points in the league stage will be declared winner.
'If conditions do not permit a Super Over, or subsequent Super Overs within the time available to determine the winner as described, then the team which, at the end of the relevant regular season, finished in the higher position in the league table will be deemed the winner of the relevant play-off match," the rules state.'
