South Africa win third T20I against Sri Lanka, complete sweep

South Africa beat Sri Lanka by 10 wickets in the third T20I in Colombo to complete a 3-0 sweep. They restricted Sri Lanka to 120/8 and reached the target with 10 32 balls to spare.

Kusal Perera top-scored for Sri Lanka with 33-ball 39, while Chamika Karunaratne contributed with a 19-ball 24. However, it all went in vain after Quinton de Kock (59* in 46 balls) and Reeza Hendricks (56* in 42) saw off the target with 32 balls to spare.

Malinga retires from T20s, ends career

Lasith Malinga, arguably the greatest fast bowler in Men’s T20 cricket, has announced his retirement from the format – and thus, from all cricket. He took 390 wickets in 295 matches in the 20-over format.

Malinga confirmed his decision on Youtube from his own channel, ‘Today I decided I want to give 100% rest to my T20 bowling shoes. I want to thank each and everyone who supported me and blessed me throughout my T20 journey.’

Malinga, 38, last played for Sri Lanka in March 2020. He still holds the record for most wickets in T20Is (107) as well as the IPL (160).

Pakistan to tour Bangladesh in November

Pakistan Men will travel to Bangladesh in November to play three T20Is and two Tests. The T20I series will begin on 19 November, five days after the T20 World Cup, and the Tests on 26 November, at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram.

This will be the first bilateral series between these two sides since early 2020. The two-match Test series is also going to be part of the 2021-23 World Test Championship cycle.

New IPL team auction likely on 17 October: Report

As per Cricbuzz, the BCCI can stage the IPL auction for the two new teams on 17 October in Dubai or Muscat. There will be no e-auction, and the familiar practice of the closed bidding process will be followed.

There will be two stages for bidding, first legal, then financial. One can bid for up to six cities, mentioning the value willing to provide for each centre. Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Indore, Cuttack, Guwahati and Dharamsala are the available cities. Sanjiv Goenka, the chairman of the RPSG Group, is expected to buy the Lucknow franchise.
