England appoint Rob Key as England's Managing Director of Cricket
England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has appointed Rob Key as Managing Director of Cricket. Key succeeded Andrew Strauss, who had stepped into the role on an interim basis following England's Ashes capitulation.
'It is an absolute honour to take up this role. The chance to have an impact and make a difference is an opportunity given to very few and I will give it everything I have to try shape the next great era of English Men's cricket,' said Key.
Taskin, Shoriful ruled out of the first Test
Bangladesh will miss fast bowlers Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam for the first Test match against Sri Lanka, starting from 15 May.
Shoriful had also missed the Test series in South Africa due to an ankle injury, while Taskin had sustained a shoulder injury during the first Test in South Africa. He may even miss the entire series against Sri Lanka.
Hyderabad beat Punjab by seven wickets
Liam Livingstone's blistering fifty went in vain as Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated Punjab Kings by seven wickets at the D.Y. Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
Punjab chased down 152 with nine balls in hand, thanks to a 75-run stand between Aiden Markram and Nicholas Pooran. Markram scored an unbeaten 41, while Pooran made 35 in 30 balls. Earlier, Umran Malik claimed 4-28 – including a triple-wicket maiden 20th over – to restrict Punjab to 151.
Gujarat beat Chennai by three wickets
David Miller's unbeaten 51-ball 94 guided Gujarat Titans to a thrilling three-wicket win against Chennai Super Kings. Rashid Khan, leading Gujarat in the absence of the injured Hardik Pandya, slammed 40 in 21 balls to take Gujarat close to Chennai's total. Miller did the rest, scoring 13 off the last over, bowled by Chris Jordan.
For Chennai, Ruturaj returned to form with a 48-ball 73, while Ambati Rayudu made 46.
